In 2016, Gov. #DougDucey signed #SB1487, which provides that a state legislator can file a complaint with the #Arizona Attorney General if a town, city, or county passes a law that violates state law. If found to be in noncompliance, the AG is to instruct the state treasurer to withhold state funds from the city or locality. This totalitarian move effectively quashed progress, protections, and local voice between citizens and elected officials.

The shoe could now be on the other foot if the Farm Bill amendment from Rep. #SteveKing, R-Iowa, titled “Protect Interstate Commerce Act” (HR4879), is legalized. This dangerous legislation is overreach that could in concept enable one rogue state to introduce or agree upon the sale or production of an agricultural product, thereby requiring other states to abide by that arrangement no matter how hazardous the product or unacceptable the production process. Nullifying standards on #foodsafety, #animalwelfare, #environmentalprotection, and labor? Our federal legislators from Arizona must reject the King amendment!
